<Benard> There wasnt anything really interesting in the cephadmlog, no errors either.  the `/var/lib/ceph/<fsid>/mon.<hostname>` was created as well.
As per Eugens command in the ceph channel what I had to do is stop the comp-mon daemon prior to running the adopt command. Would be good to add that step to the documentation to avoid confusion
