2024-08-07T11:38:05.481Z | <Adam Kraitman> Regarding branch naming I think most people start with "wip-" the rest is up to you |
2024-08-07T13:00:06.573Z | <Ken Dreyer> Thanks, I added that meetup link to the wiki page. |

2024-08-07T14:20:07.705Z | <Yuval Lifshitz> i seen the blog post from last month: <https://medium.com/jaegertracing/towards-jaeger-v2-moar-opentelemetry-2f8239bee48e>
and, from my past experience with OTEL and Jaeger, there is no point in rushing into anything.
they like to change their minds quite often (e.g. they say it is the 3rd time they are trying this transition). so i would recommend to wait and see when this jaeger v2 actually land.
still, we have quite a substantial backlog of work on tracing, so, if someone plan to do some work on that feature, I would really appreciate if we can schedule a meeting to go through the different tasks.
IMO, the most important one is to promote the feature, and let more ceph users know about it (e.g. cephalocon talk) |
2024-08-07T14:49:11.790Z | <Deepika Upadhyay> That sounds good Yuval, I will be on PTO next week, would this Friday or the week after work? @Yuval Lifshitz @Æmerson |
2024-08-07T14:50:33.551Z | <Yuval Lifshitz> sorry, friday is the weeknend for me. will schedule something for the week after |
2024-08-07T14:50:51.475Z | <Deepika Upadhyay> Thanks, sure! 👍 |
2024-08-07T15:05:59.864Z | <John Mulligan> anyone got a non-meetup link to the cdm? I can't seem to get in |
2024-08-07T15:06:17.686Z | <Ilya Dryomov> <https://meet.jit.si/ceph-dev-monthly> |
2024-08-07T15:08:32.623Z | <John Mulligan> Thank you. All the links in the community calendar and on the wiki are for (the old) bluejeans. Can someone with access update (or remove) those links to avoid confusion. |
2024-08-07T15:10:18.238Z | <Casey Bodley> the meeting on <https://ceph.io/en/community/meetups/#community> looks right to me |
2024-08-07T15:23:39.391Z | <Yuval Lifshitz> i tried to compile a list here: <https://gist.github.com/yuvalif/52032debe4065d8fb2ddc06308ed94d9>
feel free to comment, i will update the list! |
2024-08-07T15:30:00.331Z | <John Mulligan> yeah. The calendar thing apparently my fault, as I copied them into my calendar. But the wiki page was old and I think just got updated 🙂 |
2024-08-07T15:31:23.577Z | <John Mulligan> yep. it was. thanks Neha 😄 |
2024-08-07T18:34:18.468Z | <gregsfortytwo> @Patrick Donnelly from just a quick check it looks to me like all the upgrade tests are now cephadm based; I’m not sure we’re using packages for them at all. If that’s wrong we’ll want to know the actual numbers for our next discussion (presumably next CLT will include it) |
